Kenneth D. Martin, our resident expert on the Convention for the International Sale of Goods (CISG), serves as business advisor, counsel, and instructor in Commercial Business Agreements, Company Ethics and Compliance Programs, Intellectual Property, Claims and Litigation, Negotiations, Government Contracts, and Contract and Purchasing Administration. With more than 40 years of experience, he offers both a practical and pragmatic perspective on the business and legal aspects of purchasing, procurement, acquisition, and contractual matters, both domestically and internationally.
He is an Executive Consultant with CATTAN and has extensive experience in trial advocacy; administrative law; contract writing and solicitations; claims and litigation; negotiations; government contracts; and the provision of legal and business counsel to buying, contract, program, project, and executive management personnel.
Ken achieved practical and substantive acquisition expertise as Vice President, Contracts and Compliance and as Director, Contracts and Counsel for Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation (a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation) as well as Aerospace Counsel for Sundstrand Corporation, where he provided legal and business advice and support to business operations. Previously, he served as Manager, Legal and Data Administration, Sundstrand; Division Counsel, Morton Thiokol, Inc.; Chief, Adversary Proceedings Div. and Contracts Attorney-Advisor, U.S. Army CECOM; General Counsel, U.S. Navy MSCLANT; Chief Counsel, U.S. Army CORADCOM; Counsel,TRW, Inc.; and Captain, U.S. Army Judge Advocate Generals Corps.
Mr. Martin received his BS degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his JD degree from the Duquesne University School of Law. His experience also includes providing legal and business advice on contracts from research and development through full scale production and logistics support.
Ken has been a frequent and well received presenter at the ISM Southwest Forum’s annual conferences. He has conducted extensive training on contract and acquisition management, legal aspects of purchasing, and negotiations, serving as adjunct faculty for Monmouth University and Fairleigh Dickinson University as well as a seminar leader for courses held domestically, in the Caribbean, and Middle East.
